Job Overview:

As a key member of our transportation team, you will play a vital role in enhancing our logistics operations. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborating with vendors and carriers to address service challenges and enhance overall performance.
  2. Evaluating vendor requests for changes in transportation modes.
  3. Documenting carrier delays or missed pickups within our system.
  4. Collecting spot quotes as necessary to ensure competitive pricing.
  5. Overseeing compliance with transportation vendor standards.
  6. Reviewing and authorizing carrier accessorial charges and freight allowances for billing accuracy.
  7. Engaging with carriers and freight auditing firms to resolve invoicing discrepancies.
  8. Generating daily and weekly performance reports as required.
  9. Conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses utilizing various tools to address transportation-related business challenges.
  10. Assisting in the development and execution of cost-saving initiatives and process enhancements.
  11. Employing analytical, practical, and critical thinking skills to resolve issues.
  12. Embodying and promoting Essendant's Core Values in all aspects of work.
  13. Performing additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Fundamental understanding of diverse transportation modes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required, along with a Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Operations, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
