Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Teaching Assistant to provide instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for reinforcing subject matter, administering tests, and proctoring exams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instructional services to students utilizing lesson plans, tests, and teaching aids developed by a certified teacher.
  • Reinforce subject matter previously taught by a teacher by guiding students through a prescribed and frequently repetitive learning exercise.
  • Administer, proctor, and correct tests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the certified teacher.
Requirements
  • Possession of a current certificate issued by the New York State Education Department in one of the following: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, Pre-Professional Teaching Assistant Certificate, Continuing Certificate as a Teaching Assistant, or Provisional, Initial, Permanent, or Professional Teacher Certificate.
  • Ability to maintain New York State certification as listed above in order to continue employment with the State.
  • Ability to work under the supervision of a certified teacher.

This position may be designated as a 55b/c position and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
