Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

The Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with statutory obligations and maintaining its management systems. This site-based position reports to Group HSE and is responsible for identifying risks, establishing mitigation plans, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and improve activities to maintain ISO 45001/14001 accreditation for the Taunton site.
- Maintain the site's environmental operating permit requirements.
- Coordinate pollution control, waste management, and recycling efforts.
- Ensure accurate and timely compliance reporting to group and external authorities.
- Promote awareness of emerging health and safety issues at all organizational levels.
- Support development of improvement activities for the MA site to achieve continuous improvements and meet IQE's targets.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in current legislation and notify site leadership of relevant new laws.
- Update and monitor the HSE legal and compliance registers through Red Online software and notify management of identified gaps.
- Report on the performance of the HSE management system at management review meetings and use this as a forum for improvements.
- Collaborate with site leadership and Group HSE Management to develop environmental, health, and safety planning, including goal-setting, prioritization, and performance management.
- Audit and inspect the MA facility regularly to ensure day-to-day compliance.
- Model good HSE behaviors and promote a positive culture of health and safety in the workplace.
- Maintain relationships with OSHA and EPA through site visits and coordination.
- Develop and manage the Industrial Hygiene monitoring program.
- Complete internal and second-party audits for the Taunton site and group monthly HSE audits.
- Create internal e-learning courses and deliver IQE HSE training courses.
- Deploy the Taunton process safety strategy and participate in process safety studies with the Group Process Safety Manager.
- Investigate HSSE incidents to root cause and develop action plans.
- Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field.
- Desirable experience in safety management system operations.
- Previous experience in process safety management and participation in process safety activities is desirable.
- Good organizational and communication skills, producing concise information.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work under tight deadlines, and establish good working relationships at all levels.
$85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
