About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review physician orders and patient information to assess patient condition and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Determine necessary precautions and modifications to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Administer various respiratory therapies, including oxygen, aerosol, and ventilator treatments, to pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
  • Perform physiologic monitoring, including arterial blood sampling, bedside spirometry, and pulse oximetry.
  • Operate blood gas analyzers to determine acid-base balance and ventilation efficiency.
  • Participate in unit operations, demonstrating professional behaviors and supporting departmental goals.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Care.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or eligible for credentialing.
  • Licensed by the State of Iowa as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) or become licensed at the earliest time required by the state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or become certified within three months of hire date.
  • Previous respiratory care experience preferred.
