Job Title: MRI Technologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Intermountain Health. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing medical imaging examinations using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment. Your primary goal will be to assist in the medical diagnosis or treatment of illness or injury by providing high-quality images to healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and preparation for the exam.
  • Perform MRI examinations according to department protocol.
  • Understand cross-sectional anatomy and demonstrate anatomical positioning competency.
  • Critique your own films.
  • Complete studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.
  • In coordination with the radiologist, select proper scanning techniques and protocols.
  • Administer intravenous contrast material to patients as ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision.
  • Practice appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Understand and operate all MRI equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images are produced.
  • Exhibit a working knowledge of the MRI scanner, troubleshoot when needed, and understand shutdown and startup procedures.
  • Exhibit a working knowledge of the magnet, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and all relevant computer hardware and software.
  • Understand the Quench procedure and when it should be performed.
  • Adhere to and understand the MRI safety policy and the FOUR ZONE concept.
  • Understand proper MR magnet safety in an emergency.
  • Thoroughly and accurately complete all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
  • Follow appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding, and charging, obtaining consents if necessary, documenting any events that may occur for quality, maintaining a current QC program for ACR, and reporting any equipment failures or problems.

Requirements:

  • ARRT registered technologist.
  • Current Utah State Licensure (for positions in Utah) in order to administer RX.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
  • One year of experience in MRI.
  • Post-hire expectation: Meets departmental IV certification competency within three months of hire.
  • Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the controlled substance module within six months of hire.
  • Post-hire expectation: (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MR registered by ARRT.

  • Hearing/Listening, Lifting, Manual Dexterity, Seeing, Standing.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$63.59
