Position Overview

Are you an enthusiastic Healthcare Support Specialist who thrives in dynamic environments? Penobscot Community Health Center is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) FLOAT. In this role, you will provide essential support to healthcare providers during their assigned MA's absence, as well as assist the clinic in delivering patient-focused care. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain extensive clinical experience while serving a diverse patient population.

Incentives: All full-time, externally hired Medical Assistants will receive a $3500 sign-on/retention bonus.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4pm (Note: Shift differential available for this float position)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit compassion, teamwork, communication, and sound clinical judgment in patient care.
  • Provide direct assistance to healthcare providers in the delivery of care and treatment.
  • Conduct thorough patient chart reviews for pre-visit planning, medication refills, and other clinical requests.
  • Collaborate with the care team to effectively manage patient care.
  • Prepare and room patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures while maintaining cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
  • Administer prescribed medications and vaccines under the guidance of the provider, including blood draws and lab processing.
  • Support compliance with quality assurance standards.
  • Engage with patients to ensure they feel heard, respected, and involved in their care journey.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to enhance patient experience and clinic operations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant training, including essential job functions, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Current certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support from a recognized organization, or must obtain within two weeks of hire.
  • Initial and ongoing certification is highly encouraged and supported.

Preferred:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or hold CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification, or be prepared to certify within 60 days of hire.
