Role SummaryThe Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining the supply of patient care materials, ensuring an efficient patient flow, and providing support to physicians and nursing staff to deliver exceptional care to patients and their families.
Certification & LicensureBasic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of employment.
Additional Qualifications- Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to learn and retain information related to patient care procedures and exhibit compassion and empathy in interactions with others.
Key Responsibilities- Verify patient identity using AIDET principles and two identifiers.
- Perform routine direct patient care tasks to assist medical and nursing personnel during examinations and treatments.
- Maintain a safe and private patient care environment by managing supplies effectively.
- Document and collect vital signs for patients, ensuring quality metrics are met.
- Input patient medical histories and medication reconciliations into medical records accurately.
- Collect and handle patient specimens as instructed.
- Prepare for procedures by establishing a sterile field and utilizing personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Support physicians during office-based procedures within the scope of practice for Medical Assistants.
- Respond to patient inquiries via telephone, documenting encounters and directing calls appropriately.
- Assist in inventory management and supply ordering as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, including checking expiration dates on supplies.
