Responsibilities

The Clinical Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the administrative functions of the department and collaborates closely with the unit Director and/or Manager. In the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager, the Clinical Supervisor may take on the administrative responsibilities of the assigned unit. This role involves developing and implementing departmental strategies, including performance enhancement initiatives and adherence to current federal and/or state regulations.

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for preparing, conducting, and overseeing the orientation and training of department personnel. Effective communication with staff, physicians, and administration is essential, both in written and verbal forms. The Clinical Supervisor is accountable for the quality of staff performance and departmental functions during their shift. They assist the Department Director in the daily operations of the unit, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel to ensure optimal use of time, equipment, and staff resources. They also ensure the efficient functioning of the department and may perform direct patient care as needed, within the scope of practice. Continuous assessment of care is vital, directing staff to make immediate adjustments to care plans as necessary.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License
2. Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain current status.
3. Current ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current status for ER, ICU, and Telemetry.
4. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. RN-C certification within 2 years of hire preferred.
5. PALS certification within 30 days of hire for units that admit pediatric patients.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which encompasses estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $43.26 to $71.10. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, considering a wide range of factors, including skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
