Atlanta International School (AIS) unites students, educators, and families from Atlanta and around the world to develop courageous leaders. We represent 90 nationalities and over 60 languages. AIS's Upper School will span two campuses: Buckhead for Grades 3K-12 day students and Sandy Springs for Grades 9-12 day and boarding students.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum school from 3K to Grade 12, we offer PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programs with additional flexibility through AISx. AISx partners with Mouratoglou Tennis Academy and the Atlanta United Youth Team and holds Athlete Friendly Educational Center (AFEC) accreditation.

Job Purpose

AIS teachers inspire students from diverse backgrounds to become courageous leaders in a culturally responsive learning environment. We are a team of innovative educators dedicated to creating inquiry-based lessons that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Teachers ignite student curiosity by co-creating meaningful experiences that encourage students to apply their knowledge and skills positively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Deliver Engaging Learning Experiences
    • Align all teaching practices with AIS's Definition of High Quality Learning and Teaching, empowering students to transfer skills for impactful contributions.
    • Develop inquiry-based and engaging lessons that encourage critical thinking, global awareness, and intercultural understanding.
    • Tailor lessons to meet diverse learning needs and backgrounds, incorporating student voice and interests.
    • Support students in developing IB Learner Profile attributes like being reflective, principled, and open-minded.
  • Foster an Inclusive and Supportive Classroom Environment
    • Create a classroom culture valuing equity, inclusivity, and belonging.
    • Establish clear expectations with student input, fostering a safe space for all voices to be heard and respected.
    • Encourage collaboration, empathy, and community-centered learning.
  • Support Social-Emotional Learning and Student Well-being
    • Provide pastoral support as an advisor to a group of students, building relationships and guiding personal and social development.
    • Participate in an annual week-long overnight trip, fostering resilience, teamwork, and independence.
    • Facilitate an extracurricular activity or coach a sport, offering students opportunities to explore interests, develop skills, and strengthen community.
  • Implement Effective Assessment Practices
    • Use formative and summative assessments aligned with IB standards to monitor progress and support growth.
    • Provide timely, constructive feedback promoting continuous self-reflection.
    • Document and share student achievements using school-approved platforms.
  • Supervise IB Personal Projects and Extended Essays
    • Guide students in developing IB Personal Projects and/or Extended Essays, supporting research refinement, and presenting findings.
    • Provide mentorship and feedback to help students achieve project goals while developing independence and academic integrity.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues and Engage in Professional Growth
    • Work with educators to plan interdisciplinary units connecting learning across subjects.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development, including IB training, to stay current with best practices.
    • Contribute to the school community's positive culture by modeling ethical academic practices and supporting IB policies.
  • Support Holistic Student Development
    • Encourage students to set learning goals, pursue personal inquiries, and reflect on growth.
    • Guide students in connecting learning to local and global contexts, inspiring action in their communities.
    • Help students explore and celebrate their personal and cultural identities within the framework of international-mindedness.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
