The Clinical Medical Assistant at Red Oaks Medical Group, Inc. performs a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support the healthcare team. This role is responsible for carrying out assignments given by the RN Clinic Manager, MD/DO/FNP/PA's, and adhering to all standards of Nursing Care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assesses the health status of patients, completes progress notes, and organizes data for completeness and accuracy.
- Brings patients to exam rooms, sets up for exams, and assists practitioners as needed.
- Performs patient procedures as ordered by practitioners, maintains stock of office supplies, and ensures a clean and safe working environment.
- Communicates effectively with patients, staff, physicians, and other guests, and maintains confidentiality of patient information.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a certificate of completion for a Medical Assistant program or current certification as a Medical Assistant in the state of California.
- One year of clinical experience preferred, with the ability to effectively communicate and follow oral and written instruction.
- Physical demands include standing and walking 70-80% of the time, with occasional sitting and use of physical strength to move patients or equipment.
Competencies:
- Guest Relations: Demonstrates friendly, courteous, and caring interaction with patients, physicians, guests, and fellow employees.
- Safety/Infection Control: Observes all safety rules and practices, and encourages safe practices in dealing with patients, visitors, and employees.
- Communication: Demonstrates ability to accept and understand instructions, express self clearly and concisely.
- Attendance/Punctuality: Is seldom tardy and/or absent, and attends mandatory in-service programs and/or committees as assigned.
- Adaptability/Flexibility: Demonstrates ability to cope with pressure, grasp new ideas, and adjust responses to meet the changing work environment.
- Confidentiality: Assures patient and clinic confidentiality, and complies with HIPAA guidelines regarding patient confidentiality and protected health information.
- Independence/Initiative: Demonstrates reliability, follow-through, ability to work with minimal supervision, desire and ability to accept additional responsibility.
- Judgment Contacts: Makes sound and timely decisions regarding one's work, personal appearance, and demeanor.
