Job Summary

Lakeland University is seeking a highly motivated and organized Admissions Counselor to join our team. As an Admissions Counselor, you will be responsible for recruiting and advising high school students through various avenues, including high school visits, education fairs, and community recruitment functions. You will also provide timely and accurate information about degree options, admissions and registration procedures, and general education requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit a diverse population of traditional undergraduate students through high school visits, education fairs, and community recruitment functions.
  • Advise prospective students by providing timely and accurate information about degree options, admissions and registration procedures, and general education requirements.
  • Participate in program planning, professional development activities, and collaborations with academic and administrative units to provide educational and support services promoting the recruitment, retention, and degree-completion of traditional students.
  • Refer prospective and current students to other campus and community resources as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Strong organizational skills and an aptitude to assess the needs of, and effectively communicate with high school students diverse in ability, background, and academic interests.
  • Ability to form constructive working relationships with prospective students, their families, and colleagues.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in commonly used technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office) and an ability to master new software applications as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in a second language.
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Experience working with traditional students in admissions or other student service environments.
  • Working knowledge of the Jenzabar software platform and Slate, or another CRM platform.

Work Environment
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Must be able to sit or stand at a computer 6 to 7 hours a day when in the office.
  • Requires non-traditional work hours including evening and weekend events with regional travel up to 50% of the time.
