The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a vital member of the patient care team at DMC Receiving Hospital, providing technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse, the LPN will be responsible for performing a variety of basic patient care activities, including but not limited to, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the care team to ensure consistency and quality of care, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
- Perform basic patient care activities, such as respiratory procedures, locomotion, and functional activities, under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Assist with patient observation, data collection, and documentation, reporting changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
- Administer medications to patients, observing patient response and recording any unexpected reactions.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, and toileting.
- Participate in the training and orientation of other LPNs, associates, and care team members as directed.
- Follow departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safety and infection control standards.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduation from a school of practical nursing.
- Completion of NAPNES course.
- Licensed as a practical nurse by the state of Michigan.
