Position Overview
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for conducting inventory cycle counts and thorough inspections to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy and ensure efficient processing of customer returns and restocking.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inventory counts, including RF cycle counting, location audits, and recounts.
- Analyze completed inventory counts and variances to determine the need for further investigation or recounts.
- Update and distribute departmental reports utilizing Excel or other designated logs.
- Perform product inspections to verify compliance with established specifications, identifying products for restocking or write-off.
- Examine inventory in Problem Bins to confirm and resolve discrepancies, determining appropriate actions for items.
- Conduct final checks of inventory prior to customer order fulfillment, verifying item locations and reviewing past transactions for missing inventory.
- Process customer returns by sorting, inspecting, and identifying products, updating claims in the system as necessary.
- Create and modify customer return claims, assessing whether new claims are required or existing claims need updates.
- Execute inbound and outbound audits, including receipts, returns, and outbound orders.
- Facilitate the putaway of products processed through claims.
- Adhere to established safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate with the distribution center team by providing assistance in various areas as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail with a high standard for accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Proficient training skills, capable of presenting materials and conducting hands-on training.
- Adept at analyzing data to identify root causes and make informed decisions for process improvements.
- Exceptional organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Comprehensive understanding of inventory and warehouse systems and their integration.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to address issues professionally with team members and other departments.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems independently.
- Solid knowledge of the company’s product line.
- Competence in using basic warehouse tools and equipment.
- Certification to operate motorized equipment may be required.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in PC usage, spreadsheets, and relevant software.
- Flexibility in work schedule, including availability for overtime.
