The U.S. Army is seeking skilled plumbers to join their team. As a plumber, you will be responsible for installing and repairing plumbing and pipe systems in various environments.
Job DescriptionYour primary responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining heating systems, basic water supply, and distribution systems
- Installing and repairing pipe systems for waste water
- Performing basic plumbing repairs and maintenance
- Maintaining plumbing fixtures, pipes, stacks, brackets, traps, vents, and insulation
- Interpreting construction plans and drawings
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Meet DoD requirements
- Take the ASVAB series of tests to identify your strengths and suitable Army jobs
As a plumber in the U.S. Army, you will undergo 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this training will take place in the classroom, while the other part will involve on-the-job instructions and hands-on practice with carpentry and masonry tools.
You will learn various skills, including:
- Installation and repair of pipe systems, plumbing fixtures, boiler controls, water purification, and distillation systems
- Maintenance and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
The following skills are highly desirable for this position:
- Interest in math and shop mechanics
- Preference for physical work
- Ability to work with detailed plans
Total compensation includes housing, medical care, food, special pay, and vacation time. You may also be eligible for cash bonuses up to $40,000 for enlisting under certain Military Occupational Specialties. Additionally, you can earn full-tuition scholarships, allowances for books and fees, and an annual stipend for living expenses as a qualified student.
