Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at OrthoIllinois. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and maintaining a sterile environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures, anticipating their needs and providing support as needed.
  • Maintain a sterile field, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned and sterilized.
  • Inventory and monitor instruments, sponges, and needles on the operative field, using departmental count procedures.
  • Participate in the identification, labeling, and proper specimen disposition using departmental procedures.
  • Restock operating rooms with necessary equipment and supplies, ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to resolve problems and adjust priorities as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a surgical tech program or equivalent experience.
  • BLS certification or within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous experience as a surgical technician preferred.
Work Environment

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced operating room environment, exposed to biohazard materials such as blood, body fluids, and ionizing radiation. The role requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods, as well as possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms.
