Job Summary

This position is responsible for the preventive maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, as well as the supervision of tradesmen and the coordination of work with contractors and vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive HVAC schedule to ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
  • Supervise and train HVAC crews to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Evaluate and standardize HVAC products and hardware to achieve cost savings.
  • Coordinate with department heads to ensure minimal disruptions to ongoing operations and classes.
  • Responsible for the coordination of special projects with outside contractors.
  • Maintain and submit reports of man-hours and materials utilized in HVAC service functions.
  • Monitor and adjust the Central Environmental Control System to meet building requirements.
  • Install, repair, and maintain digital and pneumatic control systems, as well as conventional mechanical refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Conduct necessary tests to determine equipment malfunctions and make repairs as needed.
  • Responsible for inventory and safe usage of equipment and tools assigned to the HVAC area.
  • Perform emergency repairs outside of normal working hours.
Qualifications
  • Minimum technical/trade school graduation or equivalent apprenticeship required.
  • Minimum ten years of experience at the journey level, including at least 3-5 years at a supervisory level.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with skilled and unskilled personnel and represent the College favorably to the public.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and demonstrate ability to express ideas effectively and concisely.
  • Must demonstrate compliance with all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be willing to seek training to enhance or learn new skills.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of heating, refrigeration/air conditioning, boilers, and/or pneumatic and digital control systems.
  • Must possess and maintain required licensing to work in HVAC and boiler repairs in the State of Wisconsin as a technician and as a small boiler operator.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
