Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Travel Nurse RN to provide exceptional care in a dynamic healthcare environment. This role involves working in a Progressive Care Unit that caters to a diverse patient population with complex medical needs.

Certification Requirements
  • Mandatory Certifications: BLS and ACLS
Job Details

  • Bed Capacity: 29
  • Patient Ratios: 4:1
  • Staffing: Day shift includes a unit secretary and 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) based on census; Night shift staffing varies similarly.
  • Equipment Utilized: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, MobiLab
  • Documentation System: Meditech
Patient Care Expectations

The unit specializes in providing highly personalized care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery and other complex medical conditions. Nurses are expected to perform comprehensive assessments every six hours and document findings thoroughly.

Essential Qualifications
  • Experience: Background in cardiac/telemetry nursing, with experience in Progressive Care or critical care settings.
  • Advanced Skills: Proficiency in IV insertion, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, CVC management, EKG interpretation, Foley catheter management, and facilitating early patient mobility.
  • Procedures Performed: Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
Scheduling Information
  • Shift Requirements: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, with self-scheduling options available.
  • Floating Policy: Travel RNs are prioritized for floating, with a rotation system based on the oldest float date.

  • Care Approach: Focused on delivering individualized care for patients with complex medical, cardiac, and surgical needs.
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs are required.
