Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Electrician to join our team at The University of Texas at Austin. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing journey-level work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and service of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

* Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, install, and replace building and equipment electrical and electronic systems and components rated up to 600 volts.
* Perform preventive maintenance utilizing multimeters and other specialty equipment to safely test, measure, and correct any observed deficiencies.
* Generate material lists and acquire materials for efficient work. Keep accurate records of materials used and maintain daily time reports to efficiently complete work and document details of the functions performed.
* Perform electrical maintenance work in accordance with established safety procedures. Inspect the work of others for conformance with specifications, requirements, and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations.
* Assist other team members in the accomplishment of shop goals related to key performance indicators.
* Provide timely and courteous customer service, keep supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise, and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met.

Requirements:

* High school graduation or GED.
* Three years of experience as a journey-level electrician.
* Three years of experience troubleshooting electrical systems.
* Journeyman electrical license from a jurisdiction recognized by the City of Austin.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Associate's degree in a related field.
* Graduation from a technical or vocational trade school.
* More than three years of journey-level experience.
* Licensed as a Master Electrician.
* Experience in another maintenance trade.
* Demonstrated stable work history.
* Experience at UT Austin or other higher education institution.
* Successful completion of the Leader Development Program.

Working Conditions:

Additional Working Conditions:

* This position and associated job duties have been designated as essential during extraordinary and emergency situations when the university is closed. Essential personnel must maintain contact with their supervisor and report to work as regularly scheduled unless directed otherwise.
* Required to operate an electronic device such as an iPhone, iPad, or laptop/desktop computer to perform and fulfill time reporting and work management requirements. Work management requirements include receiving work assignments, updating work orders, and other functions as required.
* May be required to work in confined spaces, manholes, tunnels, elevated work, extended shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
* Considerable walking, standing, squatting, stooping, and moving of heavy materials and equipment in all weather conditions.
* May be required to use of personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties.
* May be exposed to loud noise, high dust and allergen levels.
* May be required to lift up to 50lbs. Often required to twist, grasp, push, pull, and bend.
* May be required to operate forklifts, personnel lifts, and cranes. Operate job-related equipment.
* May require tuberculosis screening and occasional use of a respirator.
* Drive University vehicles. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.
* Participate in on-call program.

Work Shift:

* 40 hours a week, five 8-hour days, or possible four 10-hour days with schedule to be determined with supervisor. Some overtime, evening, weekends, and holidays possible
