As a vital member of the facilities team, the Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order within university buildings and their surroundings. Reporting directly to the Custodial Superintendent, this role ensures a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Key Responsibilities
The Custodial Worker will:
1. Perform thorough cleaning of offices, classrooms, hallways, staircases, lobbies, and other areas within the facility.
2. Execute floor care tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waxing, and polishing, which may involve relocating furniture.
3. Clean both the interior and exterior of windows, potentially utilizing extension ladders.
4. Maintain cleanliness in public, private, and semi-private restrooms.

Additional Duties
5. Collect and dispose of waste in designated containers.
6. Transport supplies and equipment between buildings as needed.
7. Ensure the exterior pathways and surrounding areas are kept tidy and clear of debris.
8. Remove ice and snow from walkways and steps to maintain safety.

Qualifications
Required: Basic education level.
Preferred: One year of experience in custodial services.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Possess a general understanding of cleaning techniques and maintenance practices. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively. Capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and supervisors.

Position Details
This is a full-time classified position with non-exempt status. The standard workweek consists of 40 hours, and the role is eligible for potential telecommuting options after the initial probationary period, subject to supervisor approval and university policies.
