The role involves creating and executing a high-quality, competitive swimming program, focusing on both instruction and conditioning for swim team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership and guidance to swim team participants, which includes demonstrating effective stroke techniques and designing safe, tailored workouts based on individual swimmer levels. This also involves coordinating meet entries and offering coaching support during competitions.
- Ensuring constant supervision of the swimming area, while understanding and enforcing safety protocols and pool regulations.
- Addressing any suspicious or inappropriate behavior seriously and confidentially, adhering to mandated reporting protocols.
- Being knowledgeable about emergency procedures and responding promptly to emergencies in line with organizational policies.
- Documenting incidents, attendance, and any changes in enrollment, and communicating these to the Head Swim Team Coach and Aquatics Director.
- Maintaining required certifications and completing all necessary training for the swim team role within the specified timeframe.
- Assisting with home swim meets, which includes managing entries and collaborating with parents and volunteers to fulfill meet responsibilities.
- Traveling to off-site swim meets, which may require overnight stays.
- Coordinating and participating in monthly swim team events and the end-of-season celebration.
- Providing regular updates to parents/guardians regarding swimmers' progress and achievements through both verbal and written communication.
- Following instructions and maintaining consistent attendance, arranging for substitutes when necessary.
- Engaging in additional activities that promote the health and well-being of staff and members, including maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all program areas.
- Completing special projects and other assigned tasks as needed.
Ability to read, write, communicate, and observe effectively.
Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in rescue skills.
Ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Strong understanding of the organization's mission and values, demonstrated through supportive behavior and actions.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in competitive swimming and/or coaching is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified
Lifeguard Certification as required for the swim team level
