The Charge Nurse is a key member of the interdisciplinary team, responsible for leading patient flow and adjusting unit staffing to meet the dynamic needs of patients. This role requires a strong clinical leader who can make ongoing evaluations of patient acuity, assess staff nurses' workload, and anticipate fluctuations in admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Key Responsibilities- Triage and prioritize admissions
- Oversee care coordination of patients being discharged or transferred
- Employ effective decision-making behaviors to balance changes in patient acuity and census with staff nurses' availability, experience, and competency
- Ensure safe and adequate staffing for all shifts
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate patient care stay progression and unit goals
- 2-3 years of related clinical experience
- Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Strong leadership and communication skills
