We are seeking a skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Northwell Health. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our anesthesia equipment and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Anesthesiologists in setting up equipment for surgical cases, ensuring all necessary equipment is functioning properly.
- Apply blood pressure cuffs, EKG electrodes, and pulse oximeters as needed.
- Retrieve anesthetic medications for Anesthesiologists and Nurse Anesthetists, maintaining inventory control and ensuring timely restocking.
- Test and maintain CO2 analyzers, change batteries, replace membrane and electrode solutions, and perform routine maintenance on anesthesia machines.
- Position patients for regional anesthesia, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Maintain inventory of anesthesia supplies and pre-stock anesthesia machines, ordering supplies and equipment as needed.
- Test and maintain Doppler's, ensuring accurate readings and proper function.
- Maintain the working condition of anesthesia machines, monitors, fluid warmers, and medication pumps, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Change O2 and N2O tanks on anesthesia machines, ensuring timely replacement and minimizing downtime.
- Maintain scavenging systems on anesthesia machines, ensuring proper function and minimizing waste.
- Change solid breathing circuits on anesthesia machines, ensuring proper function and minimizing downtime.
- Attach tubing to drip solutions, ensuring accurate and timely administration of medications.
- Report damaged equipment to the engineering department, ensuring prompt repair or replacement.
- Load recorders with tracing paper, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient data.
- Maintain the cleanliness of anesthesia machines, LMA's, laryngoscopes, blades, handles, and fiber-optic intubating scopes, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Maintain specialty anesthesia supply carts, such as the peds and difficult intubation carts, ensuring they are orderly and stocked.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience cleaning and maintaining anesthesia equipment and fiber-optic intubating bronchoscope experience required.
- Certification in OR Tech, OR Instrumentation Tech, or Anesthesia Tech required.
The salary range for this position is $23.50-$25.84/hour. Northwell Health is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
