POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves executing financial and administrative tasks within the finance department of Vermont State University. The position serves as a crucial link between the finance office and department heads, as well as budget administrators. Responsibilities include overseeing and reconciling budgets, aiding in budget formulation, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as the main liaison between the finance office and designated university budget administrators.
• Generate reports and analyses pertaining to various financial elements of the university, including financial trends, projections, and budget reconciliations.
• Develop Synoptix reports and manage the associated distribution lists.
• Prepare and submit journal entries and budget modifications.
• Execute various administrative and financial tasks, including the preparation of budgetary documents, budget management, internal and external reporting as required, consistent communication with stakeholders, and meticulous record-keeping.
• Engage in significant operational projects and/or activities within the finance office, contributing to the development and enhancement of systems, procedures, and policies.
• Assume responsibilities as the purchase card administrator and manage purchase orders as necessary.
• Oversee budgets, verify accurate vendor billing, and suggest operational adjustments for cost efficiency and improvement.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION
Direct supervision will be provided by the Financial Manager of Vermont State University.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, business, or a related field, along with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge and skills. Proven experience in budget management is essential.

• Understanding of accounting and budgeting processes.

Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective planning, time/resource management, and administrative skills.
Abilities:
• Proficient in leveraging technology extensively while performing duties, particularly with Microsoft Office Excel.
• Ability to effectively engage with and represent the Vermont State Colleges to a diverse range of individuals and organizations.
• Demonstrated capacity to support a diverse community and foster diverse perspectives, cultures, and an inclusive environment.
WORK LOCATION:
This position may be conducted remotely (within the U.S. - with certain state exceptions) and/or on one of Vermont State University's campuses, offering a hybrid remote option.
