Outpatient Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in the outpatient mental health setting, providing essential support to patients and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitates patient care by monitoring vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, while accurately documenting this information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Ensures a smooth flow of appointments between clients and healthcare providers, maintaining updated treatment plans for appropriate staff access.
- Meets productivity standards alongside fellow CNAs, contributing to the overall efficiency of the team.
- Updates Releases of Information to Primary Care Physicians in the EHR for all relevant clients.
- Monitors and manages medication line inquiries daily, utilizing Microsoft Outlook and the EHR for effective communication.
- Records all client interactions related to medication inquiries in the client’s health record.
- Follows up on unresolved medication line issues to ensure timely resolution.
- Responds to pharmacy refill requests, forwarding only complex issues to licensed practical nurses or medical staff.
- Communicates regularly with medical personnel, clients, and pharmacies regarding prescription matters and agency protocols.
- Conducts thorough research on client medication concerns within the EHR.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills in all aspects of patient care.
- Completes agency incident reports as necessary.
- Performs assessments for clients who are deaf or hard of hearing when applicable.
- Updates diagnosis codes in the EHR based on feedback from medical providers.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant certification required.
Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric environment is preferred.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Successful completion of a negative drug screening prior to employment and throughout tenure.
Clear criminal background check required, with ongoing compliance throughout employment.
This role is situated in a fast-paced community mental health outpatient facility, catering to both children and adults. The CNA serves as a crucial link between medical providers, clients, and agency staff, requiring the ability to manage pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. Strong organizational skills, speed, and accuracy are essential. Professional and courteous interaction with the public, medical staff, and agency personnel is expected. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with a solid understanding of HIPAA privacy regulations.
Technical Skills:Proficiency in reading and comprehending written instructions via electronic communication is essential. Candidates should be comfortable with electronic systems, including Microsoft Outlook and medical EHR platforms.
