Job Overview

Position Summary:

The IT Support Technician will collaborate closely with our IT Director, leveraging foundational technical expertise to assist with IT projects and deliver initial-level technical support to staff. Responsibilities include aiding in the installation, upkeep, testing, and repair of systems and networks, as well as addressing routine technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic troubleshooting and support for various software applications and hardware systems across multiple offices.
  • Conduct routine technical support and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain and update the record-keeping system; document projects and user instructions as necessary.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels of equipment and materials; perform data entry and maintain records including project documents and system errors.
  • Carry out regular systems support, maintenance, and testing to ensure optimal system performance; troubleshoot and resolve general hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Support the evaluation and recommendation of solutions for hardware and software purchases and network enhancements.
  • Participate in research and development projects and the rollout of new technologies.
  • Assist in the execution of technology projects with moderate scope and impact.
  • Help with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computers, workstations, and related devices.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with a broad range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on software, hardware, and networks.
  • Awareness of current technological trends and developments.
  • Skills in maintaining records.
  • Capability to guide staff or students in resolving technical issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Aptitude for diagnosing computer issues and coordinating solutions for hardware, software, and networks.
  • Competence in analyzing and resolving basic computer problems.
  • Ability to convey technical guidance and instructions to users regarding PC and mainframe applications and systems.
