Job Summary : The Radiology Support Services Coordinator will welcome and guide patients and visitors while ensuring the check-in process is completed accurately. This role involves assisting radiologists, physicians, and hospital staff in various capacities, whether in person or over the phone. The coordinator will gather patient information for expedited registrations and input procedure orders into the radiology information system (RIS). This position collaborates closely with medical professionals, management, and imaging informatics teams to ensure the effective use of radiology-related computer systems, focusing on data entry precision and the management of images within the PACS. Responsibilities include digitizing analog films to create digital images and ensuring the efficient processing of radiology images and documents in accordance with departmental standards. The Radiology Support Services Coordinator may be required to assist in multiple imaging support areas, including Patient Advocate Reception, Film Management, Reading Room, and Mammography.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education: Requires High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a medical setting with knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required. Familiarity with computer systems is essential; experience with imaging information systems/PACS is highly preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Medical Terminology certificate desirable.

Knowledge/Skills: Exceptional customer service skills are crucial for success in this role. Candidates should possess knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, computer proficiency, and effective communication techniques, both verbal and written. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are necessary, along with the ability to multitask efficiently while managing time effectively. Proficiency in using general office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and multi-line phone systems, is required.

Other: The position requires a mature individual who presents a professional appearance. Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding work-related and patient-sensitive information is essential. The ability to work flexibly across various locations as needed is important. Tasks should be conducted in a manner that supports effective departmental and organizational operations. Candidates should be capable of working independently and collaboratively.

Contacts : Frequent personal interaction with patients, family members, visitors, hospital staff, and physicians.

Work Demands/Environment :

Frequent standing and walking, along with lifting or moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of hand dexterity, reaching with hands and arms, and communication. Corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges are necessary. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential infectious materials is common in a healthcare setting. Regular exposure to radiation risk and intermittent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals may occur. The work environment may vary from quiet to moderate noise levels, and the role may involve working under stressful conditions and deadlines. Flexibility to work on holidays and irregular hours based on departmental needs may be required.
