Key Responsibilities- Design and implement sharded and geo-redundant distributed systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Advance our deployment, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure to support a multi-region environment.
- Manage petabyte-scale bare metal compute clusters to optimize resource utilization and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create highly operable, scalable, and maintainable products.
- Engage throughout the software development lifecycle, from inception to deployment, operation, and iterative refinement.
- Focus on performance bottlenecks and implement techniques to improve system performance.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline; or 2+ years of professional experience in site reliability or DevOps.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- 2+ years of experience in site reliability or DevOps.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Istio for on-premise deployment.
- Experience with in-stream data processing and analytics using open-source platforms such as Apache Kafka, Spark, HBase, HDFS, Flink.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and network-layer issues.
- Programming experience in Python, C#, Java, Scala, or similar languages.
- Good understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
SpaceX offers a competitive salary range for this role, with a base salary of $120,000 to $145,000 per year for Site Reliability Engineer/Level I and $140,000 to $170,000 per year for Site Reliability Engineer/Level II. In addition to base salary, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, vision, and dental coverage, 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.
