You are comfortable assisting clients with daily living activities, which may include personal hygiene (toileting, bathing, oral care, skin, and hair care), mobility support, meal preparation, dressing, light housekeeping, and other household tasks.
While you may not be a professional chef, you can prepare nutritious meals and navigate a kitchen effectively.
You will also perform other assigned tasks as directed by a nurse for specific clients, which may include:
- Non-sterile dressing changes
- Assisting with mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, or lift device)
- Supporting prescribed range of motion exercises
- Assisting with self-administered simple urine tests (without interpreting results)
- Preparing special diets
- Measuring intake and output
- Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure)
- Applying external catheters
- Training caregivers
- Covering shifts in the field to ensure continuous client care (mileage reimbursement provided)
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
- Minimum six months of experience as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in healthcare settings (home or facility) and successful completion of a state-approved CNA course
- Completion of a competency evaluation meeting state licensing requirements for home health agencies
- A compassionate attitude towards patient care and the ability to manage job demands effectively
- Current CPR certification is preferred
- Easy-going, flexible personality with a great sense of humor and the ability to connect with diverse individuals
- Meets requirements for employees providing direct patient care
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English as required for the position—strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Computer literacy is required
- Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle for work-related travel
