About the Role

Siemens Industry, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Automation Design Engineer to join our team. As an Automation Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing building automation solutions for commercial facilities, including higher education and K–12 education facilities, data centers, hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, high-rise buildings, and lab facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design building automation solutions that meet specific customer requirements, including mechanical system layouts, electrical drawings, bills of materials, sequences of operations, valve and damper schedules, and DDC panel layouts.
  • Develop building automation network architecture to support operator workstations, DDC field panels, and third-party integration devices connected through Modbus, Siemens APOGEE, or BACnet.
  • Analyze plans, construction contract specifications, and codes to determine project requirements and risks.
  • Design building and space pressurization solutions, chiller and boiler plant sequencing control, and other complex systems.
  • Prepare engineering re-estimates and follow up with sales and management to ensure understanding of and satisfaction with job scope.
  • Perform quality assurance and peer-review engineering documents.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED.
  • Experience in building automation design, with a minimum of 3+ years of experience for mid-level positions and 5+ years of experience for senior-level positions.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Demonstrated ability to design large and complex jobs with some deviation using standard tools, products, and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering design software or drafting tools.
  • Candidates residing in the Greater Dallas/Ft. Worth Metro Area must be able to work in a hybrid (onsite/remote) work environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7+ years of building automation design experience.
