Join Our Team as a Hospice Emergency Response Registered Nurse

Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Hospice Emergency Response Registered Nurse (RN) to work 36 hours per week (3-12 hour shifts). Our Hospice Emergency Response RNs deliver compassionate care to patients across various environments, including skilled nursing visits, crisis interventions, admissions, end-of-life visits, continuous care, and general inpatient care. This role may also involve providing Triage Support, where you will manage incoming calls to address inquiries, connect families with appropriate resources, and offer comfort and symptom management until a nurse can be dispatched.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take primary responsibility for the total patient census during your assigned shift, including all phases of the nursing process: triaging, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care.
  • Maintain consistent communication with triage teams, clinical managers, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient and family care needs and responses to interventions.
  • Educate patients and families on symptom management, triage all calls, and direct them to the right resources.
  • Assist with triage duties as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Current RN license in Maryland or an accepted reciprocal out-of-state nursing license; BSN preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in medical/surgical, emergency department, or home care settings, with preferred experience in hospice, end-of-life, or critical care.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
  • Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Schedule:
Monday – Sunday; 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM (3-12 hour shifts) with weekend rotation required.

Compensation:
$35 - $44 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate.
