Job Summary:

Seeking a Part-Time Designated Institutional Officer to oversee our residency programs in the Central West Texas Division in El Paso, Texas. The Graduate Medical Education programs in El Paso consist of 2 ACGME-accredited programs, Ob/Gyn and Internal Medicine. This leadership position can include a mix of clinical and administrative responsibilities. Exceptional non-physician applicants with significant GME experience are also eligible for consideration.

Required Qualifications:
  • Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), or other Doctorate-level qualifications.
  • Prior experience as a DIO, program director, or other significant GME administrative role is highly preferred.
  • Experience in undergraduate medical education administration or other healthcare industry administration may be appropriate in certain situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and administration of the Sponsoring Institution's ACGME-accredited programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with the ACGME Institutional, Common, and specialty/subspecialty-specific Program Requirements.
  • Working closely with each program and its faculty to recognize areas needing attention and determine additional resources or efforts required to maintain full compliance.
  • Improving the educational quality of each program with Division VP of GME and other Division and hospital leaders.
  • Leading the local GME team in creating a positive culture and outstanding experience for residents and fellows.
  • Monitoring changes in ACGME accreditation standards and requirements and disseminating information to relevant stakeholders.
