Key Responsibilities- Administer a variety of anesthesia techniques, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC), specifically designed for the needs of patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
- Conduct thorough pre-operative evaluations of cardiac surgery patients, assessing medical history, anesthesia-related risks, and cardiac health.
- Continuously monitor hemodynamic indicators, cardiac performance, and blood volume status during surgical interventions, adjusting anesthesia protocols as needed to enhance patient outcomes.
- Expertly manage the phases of anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence, ensuring stability and effective pain management throughout the surgical process.
- Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care and smooth management of cardiac surgery patients.
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or a recognized equivalent.
- Completion of a fellowship or substantial experience in cardiac anesthesia from an accredited program.
- Valid medical license in the respective state.
- Proven expertise in cardiac anesthesia methodologies, intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) interpretation, and acute management of cardiac surgery patients.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic surgical setting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail in clinical decision-making.
- Dedication to patient-centered care, continuous quality improvement, and adherence to evidence-based practices.
- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure and adapt to evolving clinical circumstances during cardiac surgical procedures.
- Willingness to participate in on-call responsibilities.
