Position Overview

This role is designed for post-graduate training within a structured pharmacy residency program, guided by experienced clinical pharmacists and pharmacy personnel. The resident will deliver clinical services to patients and collaborate with healthcare professionals on medication utilization and cost management, in addition to providing pharmacy distribution services. Key Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy school.

Licenses/Certifications: Eligibility for and acquisition of licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas is required within 90 days of the residency commencement. Extensions may be granted under special circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Ability to foster teamwork, establish effective relationships, and lead collaborative work groups.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy and hospital information systems and technology.
  • Certification in Pharmacy Sterile Products through an accredited program is preferred.

  • Engages in delivering clinical pharmacy services and cost-saving initiatives while identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Ensures patient safety by adhering to established policies, procedures, and standards, while managing resources effectively, including time, supplies, and productivity.
  • Encourages personal professional development by fulfilling continuing education requirements and supporting departmental objectives that contribute to organizational success.
  • Conducts clinical research aimed at assessing the clinical and economic outcomes of medications and treatment regimens.
  • Participates in educational initiatives for pharmacy staff and assists in the development of training programs for medical and nursing personnel.
  • Acts as a resource for pharmacy staff, physicians, and nursing teams.
  • Contributes to the formulation and execution of utilization reviews focused on high-cost, potentially hazardous, or improperly utilized medications.
  • Maintains a commitment to patient, staff, and visitor safety by following all organizational policies and standards while managing resources effectively.
  • Supports individual professional growth by meeting mandatory education and competency requirements; serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced colleagues.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to serving every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences, embodying Memorial Hermann's service standards through safe, caring, and efficient interactions with patients and colleagues.
