Key Responsibilities- Oversee Hardware Non-Conformance: Manage the non-conformance process and ensure effective implementation on the production floor.
- Inspection Protocols: Establish and refine inspection procedures for incoming materials, ongoing work, and final product evaluations to uphold quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
- Quality Inspector Development: Lead the training and development of quality inspectors to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Material Review Board Management: Administer the Material Review Board process, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Metrology Standards: Develop and implement calibration standards, ensuring proper training and maintenance of measurement tools.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Drive enhancements in Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) programs.
- Design for Quality Contributions: Engage in Design for Quality (DfX) from initial concepts through various design reviews.
- Maintain AS9100 certification.
- Conduct root cause analysis for problem-solving.
- Facilitate supplier quality audits, including on-site inspections.
- Manage quality data and documentation.
- Develop internal specifications for design, construction, and verification.
- Provide training on configuration management and traceability.
- Establish build and testing standards.
- Participate in hands-on assembly and inspection of flight hardware.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline; advanced degrees or relevant certifications are advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years in spaceflight programs, with a preference for experience in NASA-related projects.
- 5+ years in quality assurance or control, particularly in mechanisms, avionics, and vehicle integration.
- Proficient in root cause analysis across the product lifecycle.
- Thorough understanding of mechanical and avionics standards within the industry and NASA.
- Experience in Design for Manufacturing and inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices.
- High proficiency in JIRA, MES software, and Excel.
- Experience with CAD software is preferred.
- Management experience, especially with quality inspectors, is a plus.
- Knowledge of SMC-S-016 standard and NASA workmanship requirements is preferred.
- Experience with Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) techniques for metals is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
