Job Summary

Victor is seeking a Certified Wellness Coach I to provide non-clinical services that support youth behavioral health and well-being. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Program or Clinical Supervisor to deliver wellness promotion and education, screening, care coordination, individual and group support, and crisis referral.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group support for students with behavioral health concerns, promoting emotional support and wellness using structured curriculum materials.
  • Facilitate promotion and prevention program services, including health education related to behavioral health, raising awareness of prevalent behavioral health conditions through organized curricula.
  • Connect students to behavioral health support resources, such as outpatient therapy, support groups, social services, and applicable agency services.
  • Deliver wellness education on topics such as fundamental behavioral health symptoms, nutrition, and exercise.
  • Support students in setting and planning goals, including areas of improving physical activity and sleep habits.
  • Instruct on essential life skills, such as stress management, time management, and problem-solving.
  • Provide guidance on coping skills for youth, including behavior activation, recognizing thinking patterns, using distraction strategies, and regulating emotions.
  • Facilitate small group sessions aimed at improving wellness and life skills, focusing on social-emotional skills, stress management, time management, organization, and problem-solving.
  • Recognize and identify potential risks, referring to identified on-site behavioral health providers and following established protocols when addressing risk within the school or broader organizational setting.
  • Document activities related to all services provided and submit within designated timelines.
Requirements
  • Completion of an Associate Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Addiction Studies, Child Development/Early Intervention, Psychology, or Sociology from an accredited California Community College.
  • Minimum of six months of related work or field experience in mental health, substance-use/addiction, social work, child welfare, or related fields in educational settings, non-profit organizations, community organizations, clinics, or health centers.
  • Current California Certified Wellness Coach Certification.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the English language, demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate with students and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using a computer and Microsoft Office suite.
Working Conditions
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license, personal automobile insurance, and a driving record that meets the standards outlined in the Agency's Policy: Motor Vehicle Operating Standards.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the Agency's Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations.
  • Must be willing to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test and drug screening test.
  • Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
  • Must obtain First Aid Certification and CPR Certification (when required by local county or site).
  • Must be willing to work within a culturally integrated workplace and respect human differences based on protected classes as defined by state, federal, and local laws.
Physical Requirements
  • Have an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in a school, office, or outdoor community environment, including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), alternating between standing and sitting for extended periods, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, balancing, and occasional carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Physically able to walk up and down stairs routinely.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods in a vehicle to travel to assigned schools, offices, or other assigned locations, which may be up to 100 miles driving distance.
  • Requires the ability to utilize computer and telephone systems, including the coordination of eye and hand and fine manipulation by the hands and fingers for typing, writing, and working with files.
