Position Summary:

The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of service activities by inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components to accurately diagnose issues.
  • Examine vehicle computer and electronic systems for repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks (e.g., fluid replacements, lubrication) to enhance vehicle functionality and longevity.
  • Repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning parts and resolve issues effectively.
  • Provide precise estimates (cost, time, effort) for repair or maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain logs of work performed and issues encountered.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are kept in optimal condition.
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor to keep customers informed about additional services needed.
  • Estimate time required for additional repairs.
  • Execute warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform tasks outlined in the repair order efficiently and in compliance with dealership standards.
  • Test-drive vehicles and assess components and systems using diagnostic tools and specialized service equipment.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair various automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, and air conditioning.
  • Carry out other technical duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in troubleshooting vehicles as an auto mechanic or technician.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle components.
  • Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic systems and methodologies.
  • Proficient in handling various tools and heavy equipment.
  • Commitment to observing safety precautions to prevent accidents and exposure to hazardous materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Texas State Inspectors Safety License.
  • High school diploma; vocational school certification or apprenticeship completion is preferred.
  • Valid certification (e.g., ASE) is a significant advantage.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules.
  • A-B level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical, and Engine Repair.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
