Position Overview
The Project Accountant will possess a solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing systems.

They will be equipped to address inquiries from project managers or stakeholders regarding the status of invoices related to accounts payable or receivable.

It is essential to understand the insights the job costing system can provide to project managers and the reports available for their use. Effective time management is crucial to ensure timely completion of tasks while prioritizing workload effectively.
Key Responsibilities
  • Establish new projects based on job data sheets.
  • Input and maintain job budgets as directed by project managers.
  • Set up primary contracts within the accounting system and manage change orders.
  • Generate job reports for project managers as needed.
  • Support Project Managers and superintendents with various financial tasks, including establishing accounts with suppliers.
  • Assist in conducting job audits.
  • Review contract briefs in collaboration with the Accounting Manager.
  • Set up subcontracts in the accounting system and Textura.
  • Oversee subcontracts within the accounting system and Textura.
  • Ensure all contracts issued by subcontractors are accurate.
  • Verify that subcontractor billings do not exceed contractual limits and ensure pending change orders are documented by project managers.
  • Process invoices electronically through DataServ and Textura.
  • Match invoices with supporting documentation (field POs and receiving tickets).
  • Request invoices from subcontractors and vendors as necessary.
  • Assist vendors and subcontractors with inquiries regarding invoice and payment status.
  • Prepare invoicing formats in accordance with the owner's contract, ensuring comprehensive information is provided for project managers.
  • Compile the original invoice, including all required documentation such as lien waivers, accompanying schedules, and copies of invoices.
  • Ensure synchronization across all systems – PMWeb, JD Edwards, DataServ, and Textura.
  • Handle any additional projects or related duties that may arise during normal business operations.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree with progress towards a BS/BA in Accounting.
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience in a General Contractor/Subcontractor environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Experience with JD Edwards is advantageous.
