Job Summary:

The Certified Crane Operator will be responsible for:

  • Operating cranes and other heavy equipment to move materials and equipment on construction sites
  • Determining load weights and checking them against lifting capacities to prevent overload
  • Inspecting and adjusting crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage
  • Directing helpers in placing blocking or outrigging under cranes
  • Loading or unloading bundles from trucks or moving containers to storage bins, using moving equipment
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and securing all equipment
  • Assisting with repairs as needed
  • Ensuring that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed
Requirements:

To be successful as a Certified Crane Operator, you will need:

  • A valid Driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Class A CDL preferred, but not required
  • CCO (Certified Crane Operator) certification
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
  • Punctuality and dependability
  • Ability to work varied hours, including nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions and dirty and dusty environments
  • Membership in the appropriate trade union or willingness to become a union member
  • Successful completion of the Operators Union aptitude test when required
  • Piling and sheeting experience, and prior experience in pile driving, multi-line work, friction crane, and multi-crane lift
  • Lattice boom and crane crawler proficiency, and ability to operate production backhoe, and HC110 machine
