Job Summary:

As an Industrial Maintenance Technician at Fives, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of complex automotive manufacturing machinery and support equipment. This includes diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs of breakdowns, as well as preventative and predictive measures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and correct problems with automated PLC-controlled machinery
  • Experience with VFD monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair/replacement
  • Perform component repairs and preventative/predictive maintenance inspections
  • Install new sensors and electrical components in a neat and workmanlike manner, in accordance with NEC code and applicable engineering drawings/standards
  • Update equipment documentation, such as Red-Line Electrical drawings, backup PLC programs, and enter notes/history in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Record complete and accurate repair history into the CMMS software (MP2) for all work order repairs
  • Provide daily feedback to Planning on improvements to the PM and Spare Parts/BOM Programs
  • Continuously learn and stay current with the latest technologies
  • Work independently and as part of a team environment
  • Work any shift, OT, and/or flexible hours in a fast-paced industrial work environment
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Apply failure analysis techniques in the field, such as 5-Why, for Reliability Centered Maintenance
  • Follow strict safety procedures, including Lockout-Tagout
  • Understand and adhere to Fives' commitment to ISO 14001 Quality Program
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with COGNEX Camera Vision Systems
  • Familiarity with basic Epson Robotic Machines
  • Proactive navigation of MP2 (CMMS) computer system, review open work order backlog, and make self-directed equipment inspections/repairs
  • Familiarity with and practice of 5S philosophies
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years' industrial experience troubleshooting and debugging PLC control systems, or 4-6 years' military experience in maintenance and repair of instrument and controls system components
Essential Skills:
  • Proficient in navigating and understanding PLC logic
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system components
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical drawings and equipment manuals
  • Proficiency working with hydraulic/pneumatic controls components, servo motors/drives, and common industrial components
  • Proficient with Windows-based hardware/software, such as PCs, HMIs, networking, communications, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficient in the use of various electrical measurement tools
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk/move about a 211,000 sq-ft manufacturing facility
  • Ability to stand/walk/move about specific work area
  • Ability to bend/reach/twist/stoop
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs on a frequent basis
  • Ability to lift over 40lbs on an infrequent basis
  • Ability to sit at a workstation
  • Ability to work and operate a computer terminal
  • Ability to work at heights up to 25 feet above ground level
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to wear a paint suit and/or respirator
  • Ability to work with paints/solvents/cleaners
  • Ability to work any shift as required, including overtime as needed
