Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Specialty: Labor and Delivery - Postpartum

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 12-hour Night Shift, 3x12 hours

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience: One year of experience preferred

License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact) - Required

Certifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification - Required
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Certification - Required

Must-Have:
- Postpartum LDRP experience
- Proficient in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions

Job Description:

- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.
- Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic and diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to ensure the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
- Provide patient and family education based on the assessment of their learning readiness, needs, and ability. Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching.
- Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care respecting patient preferences, values, and needs.
- Provide culturally respectful, relationship-based care, engaging patients in all aspects of care.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel following State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Efficiently utilize time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individual patient and unit needs.
- Use standards of care, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Seek out learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain clinical skills and competence.
- Maintain professional records providing evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practice against professional standards and guidelines.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes and experiences.
- Engage in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Apply current healthcare research and evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve understanding of professional issues.
- Floating may be required to other locations within sixty miles of the original assignment or designated float zones, including tasks outside the original job requirements.
