About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Culinary Director to join our team at Chartwells Higher Ed - Worcester Polytechnic Institute. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of cooks and other associates engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving food.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have experience supervising hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action. They will also be responsible for ensuring all food handling, sanitation, and customer service standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and other associates engaged in food preparation, cooking, and serving.
  2. Ensure all food handling, sanitation, and customer service standards are met.
  3. Supervise hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
  4. Efficiently prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes to meet production, delivery, and service schedules.
  5. Track food use, waste, and consumption to requisition or purchase product.
  6. Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 1 year of previous experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
