Position Overview

The role of the Electrical Maintenance Specialist involves minimal supervision and encompasses the installation, upkeep, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical systems and related electronic controls. This position is primarily responsible for interpreting technical drawings and adhering to electrical code regulations while ensuring the safe operation and illumination of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and address electrical issues on production machinery.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained for optimal productivity.
  • Analyze equipment malfunctions to identify causes and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Install power, lighting, and control circuits, including conduit work.
  • Utilize blueprints, schematics, and layouts for installation and repairs.
  • Calibrate and repair testing instruments as needed.
  • Select appropriate materials and operate necessary tools, including electrical hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Follow safety protocols for equipment operation, including start-up and shut-down procedures.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records for all equipment.
  • Provide assistance and training to fellow maintenance staff as required.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary education or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in electrical troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in the installation, repair, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and controls.
  • Basic understanding of industrial maintenance, including inverters and frequency drives.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and a solid grasp of the National Electrical Code, motors, controllers, line diagrams, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Lockout/Tagout procedures and general electrical safety practices.
  • Competence in reading schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.
