Job Title: Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - School Based

At TAL Healthcare, we are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a school-based setting. The ideal candidate will have a Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited university and be certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Board Certified via National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners, or the American Nursing Association.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver primary health care to students
  • Operate as the site supervisor and provide leadership to staff
  • Function as a health team member in meeting the objectives of the program in the school
  • Establish a database of information about pediatric patients by obtaining health histories
  • Conduct basic periodic physical assessments; order appropriate screening and routine diagnostic tests
  • Record findings in a systematic and accurate form
  • Assess the status of the patient by discriminating between normal and abnormal physical findings and recognizing deviations from normal growth and development
  • Provide routine immunizations according to NYSDOH standards
  • Provide treatment for minor illnesses and accidents
  • Make comprehensive assessments and decisions, and plan care
  • Function independently and recognize when a collaborative consultation is appropriate
  • Provide outpatient follow-up treatment by encouraging families to call when they have concerns
  • Follow up on emergency, clinic, and hospital visits and referrals, as appropriate
  • Assume responsibility for daily management of site activities and act as a resource to other staff members involved in the care of patients
  • Supervise the medical clerical staff and participate in their performance evaluation
  • Ensure the site follows continuous quality assurance standards and meets DOH compliance
  • Contribute to the periodic review and modification of Medical Protocols
  • Ensure that all patients, visitors, and coworkers are treated with dignity and respect
Requirements:
  • Represent the organization at meetings with School/DOE Leadership
  • Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited university required
  • Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Board Certified via National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners, or the American Nursing Association
  • Current license to practice professional nursing and as a nurse practitioner in the State of New York
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with children and adolescents, families, professionals, and other personnel from a wide range of cultural, social, and economic backgrounds
