Job Summary:

As a Bone Density Analysis Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in helping patients manage and treat osteoporosis and other metabolic diseases. Under indirect supervision, you will operate dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and/or other densitometry equipment to perform scans of the lumbar spine, proximal femur, and/or forearm, measuring the calcium content of bones. Your technical expertise will be essential in obtaining a computerized image of the tested area, bone density measurements, and a computer-generated comparison of the patient's measurements with normal age-specific measurements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Exercise technical judgment to obtain accurate and reliable scan results.
  • Prepare bone densitometry equipment for tests, including archiving pre- and post-test data.
  • Analyze and review completed scans for requisite information and body areas as per protocol.
  • Print out data reports and provide bone densitometry scan/patient records to authorized recipients.
  • Enter clinical data into computerized databases.
  • May provide weekly, monthly, or regular reports/summaries of tests performed.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of an on-the-job or formal education/training program in bone densitometry.
  • Bone Densitometry Technologist Permit (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification within four (4) months of hire.
Work Environment:

This role requires working in a fast-paced medical environment, rotating to all current and future locations within the San Diego service area based on operational needs. Shifts and hours may vary based on operational requirements.
