We are seeking a highly skilled and licensed Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at BlazerJobs in Port Orchard, WA.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, ensuring a seamless learning experience.
Responsibilities:- Prepare for classes by reviewing curriculum materials in advance to ensure accurate interpretation.
- Familiarize yourself with the subject matter to provide clear and effective communication.
- Provide sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and discussions.
- Ensure clear and effective communication between students and teachers.
- Serve as a support system for students, clarifying concepts and reinforcing academic understanding.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the learning environment is inclusive and accessible.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Keep accurate records and documentation of interpreting services provided.
- Valid and active license as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant sign systems.
- Strong knowledge of academic subject matter and educational settings.
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and preferences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Respect for diversity and cultural differences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an educational team.
