Facility Maintenance Specialist

The Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking a dedicated Facility Maintenance Specialist for a full-time role.
Working hours are from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, including some holidays and every third weekend off.

Position Overview
The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing essential cleaning duties, including sweeping, snow removal, mopping, stripping, and waxing floors to ensure a clean and sanitary work environment.
Compensation Details
The hourly wage is $15.86, with additional compensation for hours worked between 6 PM and 6 AM, as well as a weekend differential for shifts from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday. A 12-month probationary period is mandatory.
A sign-on bonus of $2,000 is available for new hires without prior state service in the last five years, contingent upon remaining in the position through the probationary period. The bonus will be distributed as $1,000 at hire and $1,000 upon successful completion of probation.
Current or former state employees will have their pay determined according to applicable compensation rules.
Job Requirements
All candidates selected for this position will undergo a background check to assess any convictions related to the job responsibilities.
DHS does not provide visa sponsorship for this role; therefore, selected candidates must verify their eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
This position entails physical demands, including lifting up to 55 lbs., twisting, bending, pushing, and pulling. Candidates may need to pass a physical evaluation to meet these requirements.
Work may occur in confined, hot, and noisy environments, and candidates must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- Availability to work scheduled hours, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and overtime as necessary.
- Basic understanding of cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
- Experience interacting with internal customers.
- Strong communication skills.
- Previous custodial or housekeeping experience.
- Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Knowledge of safety precautions, including lifting/caring and handling hazardous materials.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
