Position Overview:
The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) III plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational security posture of information systems. This position requires close collaboration with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and Information Security Officer (ISO) to ensure comprehensive security measures are implemented and adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the ISSM in fulfilling their security management duties.
- Prepare, review, and update security authorization packages.
- Implement procedures for the sanitization and destruction of hardware and media.
- Notify the ISSM of any changes that may impact the security authorization of the information systems.
- Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with established security protocols.
- Coordinate modifications to system hardware, software, or firmware with the ISSM and Authorizing Official (AO).
- Monitor recovery processes to ensure security features are restored effectively.
- Maintain current and accessible security documentation for authorized personnel.
- Collect and review audit records, documenting any anomalies.
- Participate in required technical and security training relevant to the role.
- Conduct self-inspections related to cybersecurity and provide necessary assessments.
- Identify vulnerabilities and assist in implementing countermeasures.
- Prepare reports detailing the status of security safeguards in place.
- Support both internal and external clients in ISSO duties.
- Engage in continuous monitoring of authorization boundaries.
- Assist Department of Defense and contractor organizations with assessment and authorization efforts.
Qualifications:
- 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity.
- Previous roles in System Administration, Network Administration, or as an ISSO.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
- Must meet certification requirements as outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Level II or Information Assurance Manager II within 6 months of hire.
Security Clearance:
Must possess a current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility and be willing to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
