Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Seaboard Marine is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of heavy equipment, including diesel engines, fuel, brake, and transmission systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines and fuel, brake, and transmission systems to ensure peak performance, safety, and longevity of equipment.
  • Perform minor repair work to the brake, electric, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assist in the overhaul and repair and/or rebuild all vehicles and power industrial trucks.
  • Fix and/or replace lights on all vehicles and power industrial trucks.
  • Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards, and maintain an awareness of surrounding equipment at all times.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in equipment maintenance, repairs, operations, and maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance repairs.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
  • Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
  • Possess organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Ability to think logically, follow procedures, and instructions, and make sound decisions.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed primarily in the shop/outdoors; exposed to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind, and high humidity during day and night shifts.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Moderate vibration through hands when using power tools and throughout the body when operating power industrial equipment.
