Pet Groomer Job Description

The Pet Groomer is a vital role within the Bergen Bark Inn Resort, reporting directly to the General Manager. We strive to deliver exceptional service, and our team members embody the values of being Playful, Passionate, Personal, and Professional. A successful candidate will be a team player, self-motivated, and possess excellent communication skills. They will have experience grooming or bathing all breeds of dogs and cats, ensuring professional-quality grooms that meet or exceed client expectations without compromising the pet's physical and emotional health.

Qualifications for This Position:

Education: Professional Grooming Certifications preferred but not required

Experience: Two to four years of professional grooming experience preferred

Responsibilities:

Provide a positive experience for pets during grooming, ensuring compassion, gentleness, reassurance, safety, and comfort.

Ensure all guests receive a groom or bath to the parent's specifications, completed on time.

Work with Resort Hosts to schedule grooming appointments, including setting up new clients in online software and discussing vaccination protocol.

Meet and greet clients to discuss grooming instructions, assess the dog's coat and condition, and provide report cards after the groom.

Maintain a sanitary and healthy environment by following resort standards of cleaning and disinfecting the workspace.

Monitor guest health during grooming or bathing, reporting any concerns to the General Manager and the pet parent.

Ensure guests have water and a chance to go potty if they will be with you for over 2 hours.

Follow all safety standards when handling guests, particularly aggressive guests and escape artists.

Adhere to pricing guidelines and communicate effectively with pet care staff about guests in your care.

A Day in the Life:

This role is crucial to our pets and their parents. You'll work with animals with reservations, walk-in appointments, and guests staying with us in boarding. You'll perform full grooms, simple baths, and touch-ups, and sometimes, emergency baths. You'll interact with clients, document observations, and help parents solve health concerns. You'll also scoop poop, clean up accidents, and go home with fur on you and sloppy kisses.
