The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs a variety of ultrasound imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients.
Essential Functions
- Conducts routine and specialized ultrasound examinations, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
- Performs quality control checks on equipment and imaging systems to maintain optimal performance.
- Collaborates with radiologists by providing technical details of the scans and discussing findings to support their interpretations.
- Maintains a safe and organized work environment, adhering to strict protocols for handling medical supplies and equipment.
- Accurately documents patient information, exam procedures, and imaging results in electronic systems.
- Communicates effectively with patients, explaining procedures clearly and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Participates in continuing education programs to stay abreast of advancements in ultrasound technology and best practices.
- Contributes to research initiatives and the development of new ultrasound techniques.
- Adheres to all relevant safety regulations and protocols, including emergency response procedures.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Registry or eligibility as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
- Current CPR certification.
